WSOP 2021 $400 Ultra Deepstack: Vijay “Eclypzed” Para Wins

WSOP recently concluded its $400 Ultra Deepstack tournament, and Vijay “Eclypzed” Para managed to win the entire thing. The event was the eleventh gold bracelet in 2021 and garnered 1,400+ entrants. As a result, Vijaya managed to earn the first bracelet of his career alongside winning 86,210 dollars.

Vijay is set to add the bracelet to his two World Series of Poker gold rings collections. Similar to Vijay’s previous wins, the title also took place in an online event. Vijay previously scored 41,895 dollars and 22,623 dollars during the $320 circuit events.

With 1,417 participants entering the tournament, the event amassed a prize pool worth 510,210 dollars. WSOP distributed the prize among the top 248 players. Several well-known names entered the tournament, but Vijay managed to dig his way through.

Among the most reputed names were the latest win, the New Jersey-based player now Scott Blumstein, the 2017 World Series of Poker primary event winner. Scott secured the 83rd spot for 765 dollars. Matt Stout, the six-time World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner, was placed on the 81st spot with 969 dollars. The three-time bracelet winner, Upeksha De Silva, grabbed the 34th spot to win 2,091 dollars. Similarly, Joon Kim was placed 14th with 4,081 dollars, while the bracelet winner, Yueqi Zhu, was ranked 10th with 5,203 dollars.

Vijaya maintained a lead after the tournament entered its final stage, with nine participants left. Jesse Cohen quickly dropped out, with A-K losing to MasPollo’s A-10. Cohen managed to flop the top pair, but MasPollo secured the “top two pair” on the turn. Cohen left the competition after the river, scoring 6,683 dollars for the ninth spot.

Anthony Zinno gave a tough fight as the three-time WPT main event winner almost won his third bracelet. With two bracelets in his bag, the 2015’s Card Player of the Year was among the favorites to win the event. Instead, Zinno lost a 6 to 4 offsuit against Alexander Condon’s A-10 and secured the eighth spot for 8,672 dollars.

Felix Vandeput’s pocket aces stopped Jordan Ragan’s march as the player scored 11,427 dollars for the seventh spot. Vijay maintained a lead even in the six-hand play while Vandeput sat out after amassing the second-biggest chip stack.

The player managed to earn three straight eliminations with pocket eights against MasPollo’s Q-9. MasPollo earned 20,456 dollars for fifth place, while Vandeput earned the chip lead. Even with the 2 to 1 chip lead in the heads-up, Vijay managed to crawl his way through. Soon after the game started, Para flipped the tables and earned a 2 to 1 chip lead. Vijay called Vandeput’s bluff in the final round and managed to win the event to earn 86,210 dollars.
